Both athletes and entrepreneurs share a common view about their professions, they believe that success can only be achieved through hard work and a clear vision. Olympic wrestling champion, Jordan Burroughs, has previously stated, ‘’All I see is gold’’, suggesting that in order to achieve his ambition; he had to implicate seeing gold in his training, matches and his life.
Novak Djokovic, tennis champion, has stated ‘‘[among the] top 100 players, physically there is not much difference… It’s a mental ability to handle the pressure, to play well at the right moment’’. Successful entrepreneurs, unlike others in their line of work, are able to cope well in high-pressure situations and are able to achieve the best outcome, due to their strong mentality and longing desire to make their dreams a reality and reach their goals.
‘’Champions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them- a desire, a dream, a vision’’- Muhammed Ali. Like entrepreneurs, their success can be made only by their own ambition, drive and determination. No other person can do it for them; they have to put the effort in.
Entrepreneurs, like sports stars, have to sacrifice it all. Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are a few of many entrepreneurs who made the ultimate sacrifice and risk to drop out of higher education and successfully run their business. Meanwhile, sports stars such as Michael Jordan basketball legend, couldn’t make it onto his high school basketball team, yet worked hard enough to become the greatest basketball player ever lived, simply because of his determination and he didn’t allow being the worst the player on his high school team prevent that.
