We all have fears. You could be afraid of public speaking or you might not have the courage to speak to someone and when you’re unhappy with what you’re doing, the thought of finding something new terrifies you because that frightening thought is always at the back of your mind… ‘What if I fail?’
There’s nothing wrong with a bit of fear, it keeps up safe and cautious, which in some cases is a good thing, however, it can also hold you back. Stepping out of your comfort zone and taking risks is a primary way of growing yourself and your business but, this is easier said than done.
Here we’ll talk about the ways you can break out of your comfort zone and take on new challenges, which could lead to incredible results!
Remind yourself: the best things happen when you’re a little scared
When you get a horrific case of the butterflies in your tummy, remember that some of the best things happen when you’re outside of your comfort zone. Things that both challenge you and make you scared ultimately help you grow. Whatever situation you’re in, give it your best shot because what’s the worst that could happen?
When you’re starting to step out of your comfort zone, try starting small. For example, if you’re scared of public speaking, rather than standing up in front of a crowd of 100 at a conference for half an hour, start off by doing just 5 minutes at a small networking event. Build up your confidence and work your way up to the big events.
Hang out with risk takers
Doing things alone can make certain situations ten times worse, as most of the time, we need that extra support and advice. When trying something new, talk to friends, mentors or colleagues about your concerns and ask them what they suggest you can do. Not only will you get some valuable advice, watching them take risks and stepping out of their own comfort zone will eventually encourage you to do the same.
